Batam Fast Ferry runs passenger fast ferries from both of Singapore's big ferry terminals. From HarbourFront and Tanah Merah it sails to Batam, and from Tanah Merah it is the only operator crossing to Johor in Malaysia. Its boats carry foot passengers only.
Routes from HarbourFront
The busiest route is HarbourFront - Batam Centre, with around twelve Batam Fast sailings a day from early morning to late evening. Batam Fast also sails to Sekupang and, in the morning, to Gold Coast Bengkong.
Routes from Tanah Merah
From Tanah Merah, Batam Fast is the only operator to Nongsapura, with around eight sailings a day, and one of three to Batam Centre. It also crosses to Malaysia: to Desaru Coast from Thursday to Monday, and to Tanjung Pengelih on Saturdays and Sundays.
Check-in and boarding
Batam Fast closes check-in 30 minutes before the timetabled departure. Security and Singapore's departure immigration come before boarding, so plan to be at the terminal well ahead. You can use the eFAST card as a boarding pass option.
Luggage and animals
Each passenger may check in 20 kg, with up to three pieces and 40 kg in total, plus one piece of hand luggage of up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Bulky, oversized and excess baggage is charged. Batam Fast carries no animals for health, safety and quarantine reasons, and that includes assistance dogs.
Children
Batam Fast has separate fares for children under 12 and adults from 12. Children under 16 travel with a companion aged 18 or over; children aged five and under may not travel unaccompanied, and children between six and 15 travelling alone need a special arrangement with their parents.
Arrival
On Batam you clear Indonesian immigration; check whether your nationality needs Indonesia's e-VOA and fill in the digital arrival card. Batam is one hour behind Singapore. For Desaru and Tanjung Pengelih, foreign visitors submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three days before travel. On return, Singapore asks for the SG Arrival Card.
