HarbourFront - Waterfront City is a weekend route: Sindo Ferry sails from HarbourFront to Waterfront City at Teluk Senimba on Batam on Saturdays and Sundays, with two departures a day in the morning and early afternoon. The ferry calls at Sekupang on the way; the crossing takes about an hour, and the ferry carries foot passengers only.
Terminal and getting there
The ferry leaves from the HarbourFront Passenger Terminal, 5 HarbourFront Avenue, above HarbourFront MRT station (North East and Circle Line, Exit B). By taxi it is 10 to 15 minutes from the city centre. The HarbourFront terminal guide has the bus lines and facilities.
Check-in
Sindo's baggage counter closes 30 minutes before departure, but the same Sindo page asks for baggage to be checked in at least 45 minutes ahead. Plan for the earlier time and leave room for the security check and Singapore's departure immigration.
Luggage
Sindo includes 20 kg of checked baggage per boarding pass, with no single piece over 30 kg, plus one piece of hand luggage of up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Excess baggage is charged, and so are bulky items such as surfboards, wakeboards and bicycles.
Arrival in Waterfront City
At Waterfront City you clear Indonesian immigration. Check before you travel whether your nationality needs Indonesia's e-VOA, and fill in the digital arrival card. The sailings back to HarbourFront are in the departures on this page; Singapore asks for the SG Arrival Card on return. Batam is one hour behind Singapore, so the sailings back are in local time.
