Horizon Fast Ferry runs passenger fast ferries from HarbourFront. It is the only operator on two routes from Singapore: to Harbour Bay on Batam and to Nirup Island.
Routes from HarbourFront
HarbourFront - Harbour Bay is Horizon's main route, with around 13 sailings a day from the morning to the late evening and a crossing of about 50 minutes.
HarbourFront - Nirup Island takes about 45 minutes, with one sailing a day on six days of the week. Nirup lies eight nautical miles from Singapore and from Batam.
Check-in and boarding
At HarbourFront, Horizon closes check-in 20 minutes before departure; at Harbour Bay on Batam, 30 minutes before. Security and Singapore's departure immigration come before boarding, so arrive well ahead. You get your boarding pass through the open-ticket feature after logging in on the Horizon website.
Luggage
Horizon includes 20 kg of checked baggage per boarding pass; at Harbour Bay, up to two pieces. Excess baggage is charged, and bicycles are charged on top of the allowance. Hand luggage follows the terminal rule: one piece of up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 20 cm.
No cars
Horizon carries foot passengers only. For getting around Batam it offers a car charter with a driver.
Arrival
At Harbour Bay and on Nirup you clear Indonesian immigration; check whether your nationality needs Indonesia's e-VOA and fill in the digital arrival card. Batam is one hour behind Singapore. On return, Singapore asks for the SG Arrival Card.
