The crossing at a glance
Marina South Pier - St John's Island is the ferry to two of Singapore's Southern Islands, St John's and neighbouring Lazarus. Singapore Island Cruise sails several times a day, from the morning to the late afternoon, and the crossing takes about 30 minutes. The boats run a loop from Marina South Pier via Lazarus and Kusu back to Marina South Pier. There is no passport control: the islands belong to Singapore.
Terminal and getting there
The boats leave from Marina South Pier, 31 Marina Coastal Drive. Take the MRT to Marina South Pier and use Exit A; the Island Cruise counter is a minute's walk away, the orange counter behind the security check. Arrive at least 25 minutes before departure. Tickets and changes
Your ticket is a return ticket: one ticket covers the way out and back. Tickets are strictly non-refundable, but you can change them subject to availability; a changed ticket stays valid for the return to Marina South Pier on the following day. There is no direct link between Kusu and St John's or Lazarus, so plan one island per trip. Big Sisters' Island is only served on public holidays, with a change of boat at Lazarus.
On the islands
The Singapore Land Authority manages St John's, Lazarus and Kusu. Open fires are not allowed, but there are barbecue pits on St John's, used first come, first served. Do not feed the monkeys, and take your rubbish back with you. The only shop is on Lazarus, open Friday to Sunday; there is no medical facility on the islands, and the authority warns of box jellyfish in the water. Camping is only allowed in designated areas with a permit, applied for at least 14 days ahead.
