What a ferry from Singapore costs
The fare depends on the route, the operator, the travel date and the age of each passenger. Short Batam crossings sit at the lower end, longer routes such as Tanjung Balai on Karimun or Desaru Coast in Malaysia higher. Batam: HarbourFront or Tanah Merah?
Batam Centre is reachable from both terminals at similar from-prices, so the choice comes down to where you start. HarbourFront sits above the MRT in the south of the city, Tanah Merah is 10 to 15 minutes by taxi from Changi Airport. On HarbourFront - Batam Centre three operators compete, which gives the widest choice of departures.
Bintan: resorts or main town?
For the Bintan Resorts area, Bintan Resort Ferries sails from Tanah Merah to Bandar Bentan Telani. Tanjung Pinang, Bintan's main town, is served by Majestic and Sindo. Compare the totals for your date and remember that Bintan is one hour behind Singapore.
What else changes the total
- Passenger age: children are priced by age; Batam Fast separates under-12s, Bintan Resort Ferries children up to 11.
- Luggage: 20 kg of checked baggage per passenger is included on most operators; excess baggage and bulky items are charged.
- Return trips: price the way back for your return date too. Booking both legs with the same operator keeps one set of ticket rules.

What is the cheapest ferry from Singapore? +
The HarbourFront crossings to Batam Centre, Sekupang and Waterfront City and the Tanah Merah ferry to Batam Centre start at similar from-prices. The table on this page lists all routes side by side.
Do children pay less? +
Children travel on their own ticket, priced by age. Batam Fast has a separate fare for children under 12, Bintan Resort Ferries for children up to 11. Enter each age in the booking step.
Is luggage included in the fare? +
Checked baggage is included: 20 kg per passenger on most operators, plus a piece of hand luggage of up to 10 kg. Excess baggage and bulky items such as bicycles are charged.
What does the island ferry ticket include? +
Singapore Island Cruise sells a return ticket for St John's and Kusu: one ticket covers the way out and back. It is strictly non-refundable, but changes are possible subject to availability.
Can I change or cancel my ticket? +
Each operator sets its own ticket conditions. Book the outward and return sailing with the same operator if you want one set of rules for both legs.
