Sindo Ferry runs passenger fast ferries from HarbourFront and Tanah Merah to four terminals on Batam, to Tanjung Balai on Karimun and to Tanjung Pinang on Bintan.
Routes from HarbourFront
Sindo sails HarbourFront - Batam Centre around twelve times a day and HarbourFront - Sekupang around five times. Twice a day it serves Gold Coast Bengkong, and at weekends it sails to Waterfront City.
Sindo is the only operator to Tanjung Balai on Karimun, twice a day, in about 90 minutes.
Routes from Tanah Merah
From Tanah Merah, Sindo sails twice a day to Tanjung Pinang on Bintan and a few times a day to Batam Centre.
Check-in and baggage
Sindo's baggage counter closes 30 minutes before departure, but the same rules ask for baggage to be checked in at least 45 minutes ahead, so plan for the earlier time. Security and Singapore's departure immigration come before boarding.
Luggage and bulky items
Each passenger may carry one piece of hand luggage of up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 20 cm. The checked allowance is 20 kg per boarding pass and cannot be transferred to another passenger; no single piece may weigh more than 30 kg. Excess baggage is charged, and so are bulky items such as surfboards, wakeboards and bicycles, or any piece longer than 1.5 metres.
Arrival
On Batam, Karimun and Bintan you clear Indonesian immigration; check whether your nationality needs Indonesia's e-VOA and fill in the digital arrival card. Batam, Karimun and Bintan are one hour behind Singapore. On return, Singapore asks for the SG Arrival Card.
