HarbourFront - Batam Centre is the busiest ferry route from Singapore. Batam Fast, Majestic and Sindo each sail it many times a day, and together there are more than thirty departures from early morning to the evening. The crossing takes about 70 minutes. The ferries carry foot passengers only.
Terminal and getting there
The ferries leave from the HarbourFront Passenger Terminal, 5 HarbourFront Avenue. Take the MRT to HarbourFront on the North East or Circle Line and follow Exit B through HarbourFront Centre; by taxi it is 10 to 15 minutes from the city centre and 25 to 30 minutes from Changi Airport. Check-in and passport control
All three operators close check-in 30 minutes before departure. With Majestic you have to be at the pre-immigration gate by then, or the ticket is forfeited; online check-in closes one hour before departure. Keep your passport and boarding pass ready for the security check, and leave time for Singapore's departure immigration.
Luggage
20 kg of checked baggage per boarding pass is included, with no single piece over 30 kg, plus one piece of hand luggage of up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Excess and bulky items such as bicycles are charged at the terminal. Batam Fast carries no animals, not even assistance dogs.
Arrival in Batam Centre
The ferries arrive at Batam Centre, where you clear Indonesian immigration. Check before you travel whether your nationality needs Indonesia's e-VOA, and fill in Indonesia's digital arrival card. Sailings back from Batam Centre to HarbourFront are shown in the departures on this page; on the way back Singapore asks for the SG Arrival Card, also for arrivals by sea. Batam is one hour behind Singapore, so the sailings back are in local time.
